Over the years I've created hundreds of different disc covers and inserts for my own personal use, and quite a few for actual retail use. However when it came to working on the cases for One Man Band's MIDI Made Easy I had to redevelop my techniques.
The first challenge was creating the templates for the three different case sizes. HD, Blu-Ray where the same size cases so I only needed to create one template for them. The Teachers Edition DVD set was actually a two-disc case that was slightly wider then a normal DVD case. For the standard version DVD I used a "slim" case.
After all the templates were created I developed the design using the images I created of myself acting as the two different characters. The covers were professionally printed at a local print shop.
The CD's followed with the template and design being created in a similar manner. The only problem I ran into was that they needed to be printed from a printer I knew who was located across the country. They were expedited to me and arrived in perfect condition just in time to be presentated.
Dragon Tracks is a yearly album that the students of MSUM's Music Department produce. They submit their own music, record and produce each track as a way to gain real world experience in the process.
MSUM's Graphic Communications Department then holds a contest between its students to design and produce album covers and inserts to be chosen for Dragon Tracks. This was my entry into the contest for Dragon Tracks thirteenth album, that was due out in 2008.
