2009 "Circuit Board" Design

This Portfolio was an attempt to produce a visually stunning way to display my work. I wanted to create a flash website based on the designs of circuit boards.

The circuit board used for the background was found at a local gizmo and gadgets store. It was digitally scanned and altered to fit the desired look. The rest of the elements were added in later using Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator and ultimately Flash.

Just about the time I was finishing the portfolio, Apple announced its decision to not support Flash in any of their portable developments. The "battle" between open and closed systems eventually led me to the conclusion that in order to try to reach as many people as possible with my work, I would need to rethink and redesign my strategy.

2007 "Piano" Design

This was my first real project using flash and became a pretty big hit, namely for it's navigation. This was my first real attempt at a portfolio to show off my work of the time.

The idea was to adopt some stylistic elements and features of a simulated yet realistic piano. Development of the navigation took a few weeks as I digitally edited real photos of pianos. Once I was satisfied with the photo I had to develop a way for the buttons to be pushed down while preserving the perception of depth since some keys are overlapping.

Half the fun of this website is that the keys actually play the notes that they represent. There have been a few people that have actually managed to click the keys fast enough to produce basic melody's of music. If I had more time to work on it I would've like to have included the ability to play the keys using keys on the keyboard. Thus providing a better ability to play simple musical tunes.
